How to get here

By Air

Glendaruel is approximately one and a half hours by road from both Glasgow andPrestwick International Airports.

By Road

From the South exit the M74 at Junction 4. Follow signs for Glasgow City Centre (M8). Continue on M8 to Greenock and follow signs for Gourock.There are 2 ferry companies crossing from Gourock to Dunoon side, both routes take 20 minutes.Western Ferries or Caledonian MacBrayne. Driving out of Dunoon and Sandbank take a left turn onto the B836 signposted Colintraive/Bute Ferry. A 20 min drive will bring you to a T junction signposted right turn to Strachur & Tighnabruaich, take a right and continue on the main road past the Tighnabruaich turn off, only a 5 minute drive into the Clachan of Glendaruel.

Alternative Route

You can take the Scenic Route from Glasgow via Erskine Bridge and Loch Lomond. Follow the M8 West towards Greenock/Erskine Bridge and take Junction 30 to cross the bridge. Turn left onto A82 and pass by Loch Lomondside to Tarbet, continue onto A83 and drive over the spectacular Rest & Be Thankful mountain pass. Turn left onto A815 signposted Dunoon. Continue until you see signpost for right turn onto A886 towards Glendaruel.

Driving from Prestwick Airport

If flying into Prestwick and hiring a car, join the A78 and travel North along the coast taking Western Ferries from McInroys Point just before Gourock over to Hunters Quay. Turn right from the terminal and continue on road through Sandbank until turning left onto the B836 signposted Colintraive/Bute Ferry. A 20 min drive will bring you to a T junction signposted right turn to Strachur & Tighnabruaich, take a right and continue on the main road past the Tighnabruaich turn off, only a 5 minute drive into the Clachan of Glendaruel.

By Rail & Ferry(from Glasgow)

Depart from Glasgow Central Station on a train to Gourock. Caledonian MacBrayne Ferry Terminal is beside Gourock train station, take ferry to Dunoon. A taxi from Dunoon ferry terminal will take around 40 minutes to take you to Glendaruel. It is advisable to negotiate a price before setting off.
